Lange Debault

Fourteen years ago Lange was introduced to guitar and recalls, "we would play in large gymnasiums [at the Talent Contest] and students would vote for the winners.  We never won--I guess they didn't think our group was as talented as we thought we were!".  The original crowd response did not deter Lange from his music.

Lange was a Singing Cadet at Texas A&M University and performed for Former President George Bush, sang the National Anthem opening day for the Houston Astros, and sang at St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in England.  During his college years, Lange played many of the local venues and reflects "this is when I was influenced most...listening to guys like Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Stevie Ray Vaughn".

Music continued to be a large part of Lange's life, he formed his own band, began playing around Central Texas, and released his first album, "Sawdust", in October 2006.  In September 2008, Lange married his love, Molly, and they continue to live in Waco, Texas, with their basset hound, Kona.  Lange's second album, "Something Like Water", is set to be released May 12, 2009.  Lange believes "things are so much easier for me now it seems.  The support I get from Molly enables me to see and feel things differently."

After making his final selection of songs for his second album, Lange began recording "Something Like Water" in December 2008. Lange spent the early part of 2009 in the studio working to get the sound in his head down to tape. Lange was proud to use original band members, Colt Ferda (Drums) and Kirk Williams (Bass and Vocals) in the recording studio. In addition, David Zychek (Guitar) produced the album, played on the album and will be playing in the Live Band this year. You can expect to hear Lange's familiar voice delivering strong lyrics accompanied by the talents of Colt, Kirk and David.

Colt Ferda

Colt has been playing the drums since he was five years old.  Back then his parents gave him a cheap set of bongos after he would beat all of his moms pots and pans.  Colt began formal drum lessons in the sixth grade with the local band director, Mr. Hentrich, and continued those lessons until his senior year.

Five years later, Colt played his first paying gig with Wes Hardin and the Country Outlaws.  Thereafter, Colt played with the Jeff Wright Band, where he met Kenny Zink who then introduced Colt to Lange Debault.  Colt played with Lange for a few years before he began playing with a rock band where he was influenced by Sammy Fox, who, Colt says "is one of the best drummers I've ever heard, [Sammy] made me the drummer I am today."

Colt is back playing in the Live Band and says "[I] couldn't be more proud of [Lange's] talents, as well as the talents of my fellow band members.  I look forward to a bright future with these guys and seeing the fans at the next show!"

Kirk Williams

Kirk has been a big fan of all types of music for as long as he can remember.  The old hymns from church are his favorites but Kirk has also been known to rock the show with a little ZZ Top.  "I'm just glad to be able to participate," Kirk says.

David Zychek

David has been playing in bands since the age of thirteen, when he would watch Johnny Winter and the 13th Floor Elevators play local gigs in Houston, Texas.  After a year in college, David tried to play professionally.  One of his bands, Texas, did shows with Krackerjack, Nitzinger, Genesee, Shepards Bush, and other Austin, Texas bands.

In 1976 David moved to Colorado and joined a band called Head First, which played tunes by the Beatles, Yes, Steeley Dan, and Styx.  David was then hired by Airborne, and after being signed by Columbia, they released an album in 1979.  Once they could never get their second album released, David played with The Groove Kings, who got to back up Bo Diddley.  David's musical journey has been a long one and if you are into music around Central Texas then you probably have heard David play.

Currently, David produces and records at Largemouth Recording Studio, in China Spring, Texas.  Most of David's live appearances are with Dead Heart Beating, but David will be playing with the Live Band this year.
